Rallycross Packing List
So, you have signed up for your first rallycross and are wondering what to bring! Every race and location are different but here is our basic guide to packing for an event so you have the best time and account for what the day might hold.
Whether you’re planning for your first rallycross or your 100th, it is important to make a list prior to the event of what you need to bring. Give yourself a few days or a week to prepare in case there is something you need to order or pick up from a specialty store. Failing to plan ahead will leave you rushing around the night before, forgetting very important things, and may make your race day less fun (or impossible if you leave something like your driver’s license at home).
Personal Items
Administrative things:
First and foremost, don’t forget your Driver’s license! You are required to show it in order to race!
Address/map/directions - not all venues have great cell service so plan ahead and know where to go in case you don’t have a cell signal
Cash- we get it, who carries cash?! But, bring cash; be prepared to pay entry fees, buy swag, and/or buy snacks if they are available.
Clothing: Plan for the weather! We live in Washington and there is no shortage of weather in a day. Check out the lows and highs for the forecast of the race venue and prepare for both. This list does not include season-specific items - winter coat and warm gloves, for example - but at every race you should have these things:
Extra socks
Extra shoes
Rain shell or jacket
Hat
Layers
Essentials:
Helmet- like your divers license, this is essential to racing, don’t forget your helmet!
Towel
Work gloves
Water
Electrolytes (Gatorade or Nuun tablets)
Meals & snacks
Basic first aid items (band-aids, wipes, hand sanitizer etc.)
Vehicle Items
We recommend purchasing a couple of plastic tubs with lids to store your supplies and spares. It is much easier on race day to have a place you can put everything (that seals) to keep it contained and dry. Having your items in a tub makes loading and unloading much easier.
Equipment
Jack & jack stand
Lug wrenches or impact driver
Other assorted hand tools that you commonly use
Supplies
Shop towels or paper towels
Zip ties
Electrical tape
Tarp
Plywood (3/4” thick, to put your jack on when the ground is soft or unstable)
Spare Parts
Air filter (at least 1, more if you’re racing at an overly dusty venue)
Motor oil
Extra wheel/tire assembly
Fuses/relays/wire connectors
The list above is general place to start for what to bring. Be prepared to bring things that are specific to your vehicle’s needs (or your own)! Feel free to print this list as a reference point when packing items for your next race.
