Rallycross Rules

New Competitor Guide

Rallycross Novice Workshop

Getting started in Rallycross is about more than just learning to race. In this class, we first introduce competitors the basics of the sport – rules, reading cones, working the course and preparation with Race Director, Kito Brielmaier. Then we move into car control and race technique with DirtFish lead instructor, Nate Tennis. The first part of the day is spent in a classroom setting then we take what you have learned in class out onto the course. You will run through stations that are dissected course elements to give you the ability to practice with DirtFish and NWRA instructor feedback. The day wraps up with a mini rallycross course where you can put all of the elements together. All in-car practice is in your own race vehicle.

Rallycross Advanced Workshop

Open to competitors who have raced in 5+ rallycross events, have taken our novice class or another DirtFish course, this class is designed to teach you advanced car control techniques and how to put multiple elements/skills together on race. This class has a short demonstration portion to discuss the techniques and elements that will be practiced. The in-car portion of the class will give drivers the chance to practice complex elements with DirtFish and NWRA instructor feedback. The class size is limited so that we can provide a higher instructor to student ratio and make sure you get plenty of coaching with these advanced skills. The day wraps up with a mini rallycross course where you can put all of the elements together. All in-car practice is in your own race vehicle.

You will run through stations that are dissected course elements to give you the ability to practice with Dirtfish and MoDD instructor feedback.

This class has a short in-class portion to discuss the techniques and elements that will be practiced. The in-car portion of the class will give drivers the chance to practice complex elements with Dirtfish and MoDD instructor feedback. The class size is limited so that we can provide a higher instructor to student ratio and make sure you get plenty of coaching with these advanced skills. The day wraps up with a mini rallycross course where you can put all of the elements together. All in-car practice is in your own race vehicle.

Rallycross at Big Northwest

We are excited to share that we are hosting a Rallycross race at the Big Northwest Subaru Meet! If you’ve never attended, Big Northwest is the largest Subaru enthusiast festival in the Pacific Northwest. With a car show, vendors and family (and dog) friendly activities, it’s just an all around good time.

Hosted at Dirtfish Rally School in Snoqualmie, WA this race is going to be a fun one whether you are an experience rallycrosser or looking to try it out for the first time.

This race is hosted in partnership with the Big Northwest Subaru meet so things may be a little different for our experienced drivers.

What You Need to Know

  • This race is not part of the 2022 NWRA season and will not count for points.

  • Competition classes will be Stock AWD, Prepared AWD, Modified AWD, Two Wheel Drive

  • Your number will be assigned on race day and you will be given a number plate for the side of your car

  • You must be 18+ with a valid drivers license

  • No work assignments!

  • No passengers are allowed at this event.

  • Cost: $80 ($60 rallycross entry + $20 event entry)

The race is open to Subarus only. If you are interested in racing, we recommend reaching out to your Subaru-driving rallycross friends and talking to them about dual driving. It’s always fun to race with friends! (And might we recommend paying for their entry and/or fuel for letting you put a little wear and tear on their car).

If you are interested in working on the course, fill out this form.

Montana Rallycross Adventure

[This event is hosted by Montana Region 105 in Great Falls, MT, not by Northwest Rally Association]

Join us for a road trip out to Montana to race with our neighbors! The Montana region puts together some great courses - they are long, usually higher speed than what we run here with some sweeping turns and a ton of grip. It is a fun way to mix it up from our PNW events and meet other rallycrossers.

Cost: $25 (You read that right! You’ll get a lot of seat time for that $$)
Location: Bull Run Guest Ranch, Cascade, MT
Lodging: You can camp onsite at the venue. For hotels, there are some local lodges in Cascade or the standard fare in the Great Falls area (about a 30 minute drive from the venue).
Saturday BBQ (post-event): We are staying the night on Saturday and leaving early Sunday morning so we thought a BBQ at the venue would be a fun way to hang out at the end of the day. Please join us! The BBQ will be potluck style.

If you have questions, please submit them to the organizers through the registration page on MotorsportReg. We’ll send an email to anyone from WA/OR attending the event the week before.

May Madness Rallycross

For our may rallycross, we are heading east to Lind Washington! At the Lind Lions Club arena, you will race on a clay and gravel course that takes you both inside and outside of the arena. Lind is a little longer of a drive for our western WA competitors but for our easter WA and OR drivers who have been asking for more events on your side of the mountains, this is your chance!

This event is split over two days so half of the drivers race on Saturday and half on Sunday. Since many of our competitors are going to be traveling for a few hours, we figured you might want to make the weekend worth your while. We have opened up fun runs on both days so that you can race one day and run in a time only group the opposite day. For example, if you race Saturday you can sign up for Time Only on Sunday (and vice versa). The courses will be different each day.

We’ll be opening up a practice session to give competitors a chance to get seat time on a mock course. Participants will be split into two groups for a standard run/work setup. Each group will get a 60 minute practice session where you can run as little or much as you like.

The Welcome Back Rallycross

**Please note that this event is not open to spectators or volunteers. We are hoping that we’ll be able to allow guests at the Rallycross Fest at Dirtfish in August, so stay tuned!!**

That’s right! The state of Washington has created motorsports-specific regulations so that we can get back to racing!

We have to give a huge thank you to DirtFish for allowing us to put a last minute event together. We are very excited to get back out there at one of our favorite venues with our favorite people.
